Deep Sky Astrophotography

Welcome! I'm an astrophotographer based in Westlake Village, California, creating deep sky images as part of a personal passion project that blends art, science, and exploration. This site is a showcase of my work and an invitation to experience the quiet beauty of the cosmos.

My journey into astronomy began about a decade ago with a simple goal: to see the Andromeda Galaxy through a telescope. Like many newcomers, I expected something vibrant and detailed — but instead, I saw what could best be described as a faint smudge. That moment, though underwhelming at the eyepiece, sparked a deeper curiosity: what would it take to truly see the universe as it's captured in professional images? That question launched me down the long, rewarding path of astrophotography.

I image with two Takahashi Epsilon telescopes, using full-frame monochrome cameras with the IMX455 sensor. My favorite targets are dark nebulae and reflection nebulae—objects that are often overlooked and notoriously difficult to capture well. Their subtlety and complexity fascinate me, and I love bringing out their hidden beauty. I enjoy giving these overlooked regions the attention and reverence they deserve.

Most of my data is collected from Lake San Antonio in Monterey County, California, where I’m part of a loose-knit group of astrophotographers who gather for deep-sky imaging. There’s no formal club, just a shared love of the night sky. Traveling with my gear is a key part of the experience — not just to access better skies, but to immerse myself in the stillness and scale of the universe.

All of the images on this site are processed by me using PixInsight. It’s always exhilarating to see the final result emerge from hundreds of carefully captured sub-exposures. What starts as faint hints of structure in individual frames becomes something stunningly detailed—a transformation that never fails to amaze me.

For me, astrophotography is a humbling experience. I often think about what was happening on Earth when the light I’m capturing first left these distant objects—centuries, millennia, or even millions of years ago. That light has traveled across space for ages, only to land on my camera sensor and become part of a photograph. The scale of it all is staggering and endlessly inspiring.

Each image here reflects hours — often days — of imaging time and post-processing, but more than that, they reflect wonder, dedication, and a love of discovery.
